Specialty Contractors expanded into Mississippi in the early 1960s with Ed Rumpf from Mobile, Alabama pioneering the market. Jane and Dave Dennis moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1976 to manage the Gulfport office, and bought the entire company in 1985.
