Dr. Robert Fortier-Bensen, MD, ND, CCN, Doctor of Integrative Medicine and staff practice the medicine of tomorrow, which is called Integrative Medicine by visionaries.
To help people get better, Integrative Medicine uses all safe and effective methods available without any prejudice to the origin. To provide this type of medicine, Dr. Fortier-Bensen continues to reassess the biochemistry that makes us the individuals that we are, as well as the genomic, proteomic and orthomolecular processes which are involved. He has also obtained training and certifications in naturopathic endocrinology and hormonal medicine, functional medicine, regenerative medicine, orthopedic, and sports medicine, as well as homeopathy, acupuncture and Chinese medicine. He was also awarded board certifications in anesthesiology, nutrition, pain, naturopathy and Anti-Aging medicine. He has been trained by, or lectured by, nearly all the natural experts, in every field noted in his practice.

Dr. Fortier-Bensen has studied psychoimmunoneurology and family systemic therapeutics. He has trained and studied as well as taught all over the world. He understands that pain management must be integrative and not just about having injections. He graduated from Capital University of Integrative Medicine in Washington, D.C. and was on faculty in the department of Neurobiology where he taught prolotherapy, functional rehabilitation and neural therapy for six years. Dr. Fortier-Bensen has completed a year of basic science research in cardio-pulmonary physiology. His interest has been in repairing joints, ligaments, and tendons with regenerative injection therapies such as Platelet Rich Plasma, and Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate in which the body's own growth factors can help repair its injured areas. He has become more aware of the complex energetic, metabolic, and secretory functions of the collagen matrix component of our bodies, where the metabolic acupuncture sites are coordinated. The relationship of genomic detoxification, collagen sink absorption of free radicals, and the signs of early joint derangements, are studied in relationship of nutrients, hormones, and neurotransmitters. The model of hormesis manifested by homeopathy is also integrated into a multiloci continuum. This is why his advice is sought after by professional athletes, and those who wish to remain healthy.

What has all the studying brought him? "I compare the progress of medicine to the statement by Max Planck who noted that science (medicine) progresses one funeral at a time," Dr. Fortier-Bensen says. "Medicine will change not because physicians want it, but because an educated public will demand it. Science has not failed medicine; medicine has failed science."

"What we have in medicine today is perfection of techniques with confusion of goals," he explains. "In the Integrative Medicine model, the person must also share the responsibility for the high cost of medicine and for his health. I often tell my patients that if most of us treated our cars as we do our bodies, and if we could only be issued one, most of us would be walking or hitch-hiking. But enough about poor attempts and glib statements. Let us have our beignets and eat them, too."

Dr. Fortier-Bensen graduated from Loyola University (B.S.) and received his M.D., degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center.
